Duterte visits Naga landslide victims

The President, together with SAP Bong Go, visited the victims of the landslide incident in the City of Naga, Cebu Friday, 21 September 2018.

They were joined by Cabinet Members (DSWD Sec. Gee Orogo, DILG OIC Usec. Eduardo Año, DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu, and PA for the Visayas Mike Dino) and other national and local officials.

Upon arrival, President Duterte condoled and interacted with the families of the victims of this unfortunate incident.

In his message, President Duterte mentioned that he has directed NHA GM Jun Escalada and HUDCC Chair Ed Del Rosario to immediately visit the City of Naga, and to coordinate with Cebu Gov. Jun Davide and Naga Mayor Kristine Chiong for the provision of housing for the victims.

President Duterte also directed concerned agencies to ensure that the medical needs of the victims are attended to, and funeral/burial assistance to all the victims are provided. Moreover, he also committed to fund the construction of evacuation centers which will serve as a temporary shelter during disasters.

The national and local government provided the following assistance to the victims:

1. DSWD
– food packs
– sleeping kit
– dining kit
– malong
– hygiene kit
– water

DSWD will also give P25,000 to the families of those who died.

2. DOH
– round-the-clock medical assistance
– psychosocial aid and stress debriefing

3. NAGA CITY GOVERNMENT
– funeral and burial assistance
– medical assistance for the injured

The Office of the President will likewise provide P20,000 to the families of those who died and P10,000 to those who were injured.

As of 6:30 PM of 21 September 2018, DSWD recorded 32 dead, 18 injured, 47 missing, and 1,059 families / 4,331 individuals affected.
