BJMP official tested positive for drugs

An official of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology tested positive in a random drug test conducted during the implementation of Coplan Durian Wall inside the Maa City Jail in Davao City Saturday, February 23.

The BJMP officer is identified as Chief Inspector Roman Hernandez Correction, Provincial Jail Administrator- Davao del Sur.

Aside from Hernandez, nine inmates also tested positive from the drug test.

Almost a thousand personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the Philippine Coast Guard conducted the surprise raid in the said jail facility around three in the morning Saturday.

The search and seizure operation led to the confiscation of various drug paraphernelia and other illegal contrabands.

EastMinCom participates in National Earthquake Drill

NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – Personnel and civilian staff of Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) under MGen. Felimon T. Santos, Jr. joined the nationwide simultaneous Earthquake Drill held at the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao parade ground at 2:00 PM on February 21, 2018.

Units and offices inside the camp also participated in the said drill.

MGen. Felimon T. Santos Jr., Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) emphasized the importance of the drill to the Command, being the lead agency in Search, Rescue and Retrieval Cluster in the Response Thematic Area of Disaster Management.

“The nation-wide drill aims to prepare the Filipinos in responding to earthquakes and other emergencies. For Eastmincom part, it will enhance the preparation, coordination, and capability of our units in our task as the lead agency in search, rescue and retrieval operations,” MGen. Santos Jr. said.

The exercise which was supervised by the Office of Civil Defense XI goes beyond Duck, Cover and Hold. It had two phases, Phase 1 focused on the immediate action of the Command during and after a disaster. It also includes local evacuation and rescue within the camp.

The second phase focused on the role of EMC in the four regions of Eastern Mindanao particularly Regions X, XI, XII & XIII; simulating the role of the lead agency in Search Rescue and Retrieval.

Phase 2 included the simulation of battle staff action as part of the Command and Control mechanism, integration to the Incident Command System, and Communication Exercise particularly with the operating units in Eastern Mindanao.

Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment was also simulated being the initial reference in the prioritization of assets within the inventory and deployment of troops.

The event was evaluated by an Inter-Agency Team from Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council XI.

Fire incident in Davao

SUBJECT : Conflagration incident at Isla Verde, Brgy 23-C, Davao City

Please be informed that at around 1:30PM of February 20, 2019, a conflagration incident transpired at Purok 4, Isla Verde, Brgy 23-C, Davao City. The incident was immediately responded by BFP, Filipino Chinese Fire Volunteer, 911 fire auxiliary, Davao Youth Volunteer, Task Force Davao, and PS1/ DCPO personnel. According, to fire investigator, SFO1 Ramil Gillado of BFP, the fire started from the residence of Eddie Tungal which is made of light materials. Fire was declared under control at around 2:35 PM of the same date with 200 households affected by the said incident while the cause of fire and the estimated cost of damage is yet to be determined.

HOW:

Operatives of CIDG, DCCFU (lead unit ) together with CIDG, RFU 11 and Sta. Ana Police staion 1 of DCPO conducted simultenous Implementation of 42 Search Warrants issued by HON. RETRINA E. FUENTES, Presiding Judge RTC 11, Br 10, Davao City dated February 19, 2019 at Dr 72B, Santiago bldg., F. Bangoy St., Agdao, Davao City and at Lapu-lapu St., Agdao, Davao City that resulted in the arrest of LEO LEE SY, and the confiscation of the following items listed below. Arrested person was brought to this unit for booking and documentation and subsequently turned over to Sta Ana PS1 for safekeeping.

The Search and Siezure were conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in accordance with law and at all times witnessed by the subject person together with his lawyer, product specialist of PMFTC, and Barangay Kagawad
