Hundreds of homes were destroyed and several more families displaced as big waves batter several coastal barangays in Davao City over the weekend.
Huge waves as high as houses started hitting makeshift houses in barangays 21-C, 22-C, 23-C, Bago Aplaya, Matina Aplaya, and Brgy. Duterte all in Davao City.
Authorities said Saturday that a total of 114 houses were damaged by huge waves that struck the coastlines of the six affected villages.
More than 300 families were displaced as a result. They are currently housed in evacuation centers of the different villages.
A video posted by Are’s Neil Dunque Codilla in his Facebook account showed that huge waves continue to batter coastal villages on Sunday.
The video was supposedly taken in Matina’s seawall on Sunday morning.
