PRRD, Bong Go call for unity and solidarity amid trying times

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go expressed his gratitude to all the volunteer local artists who performed for President Rodrigo Duterte during an online concert held on Sunday, August 30.

The group “Volunteer Artists for Duterte”, led by veteran singer and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation official Jimmy Bondoc, organized the event to show their appreciation for President Duterte’s tireless leadership during these exceptional times.

Both Duterte and Go briefly appeared during the concert to thank the organizers for their support. President Duterte invited them to visit his home after the pandemic and expressed his hope that a vaccine against the coronavirus would be in place before the end of the year.

The President also announced a visit to Jolo, Sulu on Sunday evening, where he will pay tribute to the fallen members of the security forces who died during the twin bombings that occurred last August 24.

I’ll go there to fulfill the duty of a commander-in-chief,” President Duterte said in a video message.

Meanwhile, Go earlier reiterated his call for all agencies of government to ensure that those responsible for these acts of terrorism are held accountable for their actions.

Previously, Go explained that the Anti-Terrorism Law must be implemented properly to enforce the law within its bounds against those who break it in order to stop terrorism at its roots.

Go, in his message during the online concert, also stressed the need for unity and hope to overcome this time of crisis and thanked everyone for their solidarity.

Go expressed his firm belief that all Filipinos, regardless of their political affiliation, share the same wish: to return to the days before the pandemic when they can embrace their loved ones.

He vowed that he and President Duterte would continue to serve the nation to the best of their abilities and do everything within their power to improve the lives of all Filipinos.

Bong Go tells Filipinos not to worry about the President’s health: “He will finish and live beyond his term”

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has dismissed speculations regarding the health of President Rodrigo Duterte following the latter’s remarks on his Barrett’s esophagus.

Nakukuwento niya na habang tumatanda tayo, marami nang ipinagbabawal,” Go said during a radio interview on Saturday, August 29.

He assured that Filipinos have nothing to worry about Duterte’s health as he is physically fit and is in good shape to lead the Philippines. Go also guaranteed that he will finish and live beyond his term.

“Huwag po kayong mag-alala at ‘yung mga nagpapakalat ng balita, ‘wag po kayong mag-aalala, ‘di totoo ‘yun, at kayang-kaya ni Pangulong Duterte na tapusin ang kaniyang termino and live beyond his term,” Go said during the interview.

In a previous statement, Go said that the President is committed to lead and improve the lives of all Filipinos.

Alagaan natin s’ya at ipagdasal natin palagi ang kanyang mabuting kalusugan,” he added.

Go explained that Duterte’s remarks on the supposed advice to him by doctors was a reminder to all the Filipinos to be mindful of their own health, especially now that the country is suffering from COVID-19 pandemic.

Sinasabi ng Pangulo, 75 years old na siya at maraming bawal,” he added.

Go said in his past statements.

While he reassured the public about the state of the President’s health, Go asked the Filipino people to pray for the safety of the President, as he is already old and is considered vulnerable to COVID-19. The Senator added that they have to protect the President as he emphasized that the country cannot afford to lose a good leader like Duterte.

While temporarily staying in Davao City, Go mentioned that Duterte will eventually go back to Manila to attend a virtual conference with the King of Jordan to discuss the country’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Rep. Paolo Duterte on mass resignation of HoR staff

Davao City 1st District Representative and House Deputy Speaker Paolo Z. Duterte issued a short statement regarding the supposed mass resignation of his congressional staff at the House of Representatives.

The presidential son’s statement came on the heels of the statement of ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Yap who admitted that he was the one who asked for the resignation of Rep. Duterte’s chief of staff Atty. Sherwin Castañeda and six of his staff.

Rep. Yap said he asked for Castañeda’s resignation as he was also the one who recommended him to serve as Duterte’s chief of staff. Yap said he received numerous complaints of mismanagement under Castañeda.

In his statement, Rep. Duterte said that since Rep. Yap has already issued a statement, the reason behind is better answered by Castañeda who he parted ways with amicably.

“For the details on why they resigned I think it would be best if Atty. Castañeda should answer that question because for me tapos na ang lahat and we parted ways na maayos,” the young Duterte said.

Rep. Duterte said the resignation letters of Castañeda and his staff of six were submitted to the Office of Rep. Eric Yap on August 10. And he intended it to be discreet so as to protect Castañeda and his staff.

Rep. Duterte said he was surprised that a website came out with the story and did not even bother to ask his side of the story.

At the moment, Rep. Duterte said he now plans to bring in some of his trusted staff from his Davao District-Office to the HoR to help run the office.

“I’m almost done filling up the vacant positions with the help of congressman Yap’s staff. Hoping for a smooth transition and a more effective office for the constituents of the 1st dist of Davao City,” ended Rep. Duterte.

STATEMENT OF SEN. BONG GO
Re: Health of the President

It is all according to God’s will.”

Having known the President for a long time, I know how much he loves to serve and he is willing to die for his country.

I urge my fellow Filipinos to cooperate and stay united in our efforts to overcome this crisis.
