DAVAO CITY – The Office of the First District Representative Paolo Duterte in coordination with the City Health Office (CHO) launched on September 15, Tuesday, the ‘Kampanya Kontra Malnutrisyon’ feeding program at Purok 27-Pandaman in Barangay Maa of this city.
Duterte’s office said that the food supplemental program for undernourished children, pregnant and lactating mothers aim to improve and sustain the healthy status of the children and lactating mothers in the nine of the 54 barangays under the first district.
There were 60 selected beneficiaries who first received food packs containing one kilo of rice, one-fourth kilo of mongo, six pieces tablea (chocolate cacao tablets), textured vegetable protein, and vitamins.
Aside from the food packs, the beneficiaries were also served with hot meals by the members of the office of the first congressional district. The CHO members, meanwhile, distributed organic mosquito repellents to the mothers.
Before the feeding program started, beneficiaries were also weighed and measured as baseline for monitoring and evaluation purposes. Every month, they will be weighed and measured to assess the progress of their nutritional status.
The same goods and procedures will be provided to the 30 identified beneficiaries from eight other barangays, namely: 19B, 8A, 5A, Magtuod, Catalunan Grande, Catalunan Pequeno, Matina Aplaya, and 31D.
Then, the food packs will be given to the beneficiaries for the next three months, every Monday. Improvements in the nutritional status of children will be determined once they complete the given duration of supplemental feeding. ###
