“Bong Go is my only presidential bet,” PRRD emphasizes

As he endorses his long-time aide for the highest post

President Rodrigo Duterte stressed in an online interview that it was him who pushed Senator Christopher “Bong” Go to run for president after Go withdrew his vice-presidential bid following Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s decision to run for the country’s second highest post.

The president also reiterated that he is not supporting or endorsing any presidential candidate other than Bong Go.

“Ayan bukas ang presidente, tumakbo ka,” Duterte said.

“Nagbibigay ako guidance sa kanya. Kaya sabi niya, tatakbo si Inday, magwi-withdraw na lang siya (at) ayaw na niya. Eh sabi ko, bakit ganon, nakaumpisa ka na, eh ‘di tumakbo ka na lang na presidente eh ganon lang pala ang gagawin sa iyo, eh ‘di kasahan na,” the President continued.

“Ni minsan wala kayong narinig na mag-Marcos ako. Wala, wala kayong narinig. Kailan man hindi ako nagsalita na may susuportahan ako. Kinakausap ko lang for respeto. Pero I never, never gave a commitment na magsuporta ako sa kanila,” he added.

Duterte also put a spotlight on the good qualities that the presidential aspirant possesses that makes him a highly deserving candidate for the said position.

Emphasizing on Go’s “malasakit” for the Filipinos, the President likewise said that it is Go who will be the most suitable public servant to continue his legacy for the benefit of his fellow countrymen and women.

“Eh wala itong ginawang hambog na kuwento na kaya niya, pero alam ko sa taon na nagserbisyo siya sa akin, alam ko isang (katangian) is talagang honest (siya). Wala ka talagang makita at masilip,” Duterte said.

Go was accompanied by the President at the Commission on Elections office in Intramuros, Manila on Saturday, November 13, where he filed his candidacy for president under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), an allied party of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

“The fact na umatras si Bong, siyempre alam ko na pinagbigyan kami ni Bong dahil nga siguro sa tagal na niyang serbisyo sa amin, at kilala, kaibigan ko ang pamilya nila. At naaawa ako sa nangyari, kita mo ‘yung tao napaiyak. Pero sabi ko, whatever is your decision I will support you, as a matter of principle,” Duterte stressed.

“Ang suporta ko kay Bong as a matter of principle. Kaya nga kung matalo kami, eh kainin namin ‘yan. Basta ako, ‘pag ako nagsabi ng tao na susuportahan kita, susuportahan kita. Alam ninyo ‘yang isang salita lang ako,” the President ended.

149th Malasakit Center opens in Malabon City

As Bong Go vows to push for improved healthcare access for all Filipinos



Senator Christopher “Bong” Go reaffirmed his commitment to advocate for improved access to health care for the poor and underserved during the launch of the country’s 149th Malasakit Center at the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital in Malabon City on Tuesday, November 16.

This is the 31st Malasakit Center in Metro Manila and the second in the city, after the Ospital ng Malabon opened its own in December 2019.

“Noong naging senador ako, isa ito sa mga una kong isinulong sa senado. Sila Congresswoman (Josephine Lacson-Noel) ang iilan sa mga nakipaglaban nito sa Lower House. Tinulungan nila tayo upang maging batas itong Malasakit Centers program,” said Go.

In a speech he gave at the launch, the senator explained that the center aims to lower hospital bills for patients by covering various services and expenses, pursuant to the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which he principally authored and sponsored in the Senate.

Malasakit Centers improve the process for requesting medical assistance by bringing all relevant government agencies, namely the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, under one roof.

“Ang target nito ay zero balance. Halimbawa, may bill kayo sa ospital. Ilapit niyo lang ito sa apat na ahensya. Kung may naiwang balanse, pwede pong kunin ang pangdagdag sa pondong iniwan ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte para maging zero balance ang inyong billing,” explained Go.

“Kaya kung may pasyente kayo, ilapit niyo siya sa Malasakit Center. Ano ho bang kwalipikasyon nito? Basta Pilipino ka, qualified ka. Kapag hindi ka tutulungan ng Malasakit Center pagalitan mo. Sabihin mo, ‘Hoy! Pilipino ako, karapatan ko ‘yan’,” he continued.

The program was originally launched in 2018 and has since been adopted in 83 hospitals in Luzon, 29 in Visayas and 37 in Mindanao. It has since aided over three million poor and indigent patients, in keeping with the Duterte Administration’s commitment to improving access to health care services.

The senator continued his speech reminding the hospital not to refuse treatment to patients due to their financial situation. He assured them the government’s assistance and support for that purpose, which it had previously demonstrated by providing for the funds for the construction of a new annex to expand the hospital’s bed capacity.

“Dapat walang pinipiling pasyente ang Malasakit Center. Doc, unahin niyo ang mga mahihirap at ‘wag niyo silang pabayaan. Iyon lang ang pakiusap ko sa inyo. Hindi naman kailangan ng mga mayayaman ang ospital na ito dahil doon sila sa mga pampribado,” pointed out Go.

“Full support kami ni Pangulong Duterte sa inyo. Kung anong kailangan ninyo, tutulong kami. Ako naman, saan man ako padparin ng tadhana, tutulong ako sa inyo. Hindi ako titigil sa pagseserbisyo sa inyong lahat,” he pledged.

The senator also vowed to ensure that their health care workers are properly paid and protected by pushing for the enactment of Senate Bill No. 2421. The bill, which takes into consideration a bill he authored, provides a COVID-19 Risk Allowance in lieu of the special risk allowance and other financial benefits granted under the Bayanihan 2.

It specifically aims to give HCWs in “low risk areas” a monthly allowance of P3,000, those in “medium risk areas” P6,000 and those in “high risk areas” P9,000.

In line with this, Go further revealed that his recent discussions with the President covered the proposal to offer cash incentives to fully-vaccinated members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as a means of increasing COVID-19 vaccination uptake among the poorest of the poor.

“Alam niyo, 84 percent ng mga 4Ps beneficiaries ay takot pa sa bakuna. Kailangang paigtingin pa natin ang pagpa-intindi sa kanila. Hindi ako sang-ayon sa ‘no bakuna, no ayuda’ kaya baliktarin natin. Nakapag-suggest na ako kay Pangulong Duterte na bigyan ng 500 pesos cash incentive ang lahat ng beneficiaries para maengganyo sila,” shared Go.

To help keep the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations on a downward trend, he appealed to the public, vaccinated or otherwise, to keep wearing their masks and abiding by the health protocols. He warned that vaccinated people still have a small chance of spreading the virus and should remain cautious with who they come in contact with.

“Pinaalala namin ni Pangulong Duterte sa lahat na magsuot pa din ng mask. Tingnan niyo sa (sa Europa), tumigil sila sa pagsuot kay tumaas na naman ‘yung kaso nila. Sila na naman ‘yung epicenter ng pandemya. Kaya importante ng mag-mask. Hindi natin alam ‘yung nasa tabi natin ay hindi pa pala bakunado,” cautioned Go, before urging all remaining holdouts to get their vaccine shots.

“Nasa datos naman na ‘pag bakunado kayo, mas maiiwasan ‘yung pagka-grabe na sakit o pagkamatay dahil sa COVID-19. More than 90 percent na ang bakunado sa Maynila kaya unti-unti nang bumababa ang kaso dito. Wala na tayong ibang solusyon so magpabakuna na kayo at libre naman ito,” he appealed.

After the ceremony, the senator and his staff handed out meals, food packs, vitamins and masks to a total of 324 frontline HCWs and 26 indigent patients. They provided selected frontliners new pairs of shoes and bicycles. Some also received computer tablets which their children can use for their school activities.

In addition, personnel from the DSWD distributed financial assistance to each patient and 164 rank-and-file hospital employees, including the custodian and security personnel.

“Pumunta kami dito para nabigyan kami ng wheelchair. Outpatient kasi ang lola ko na galing sa stroke. Dahil gastusin, nagtutulungan ang pamilya namin, ‘yung tito at tita ko. Lahat ng income ginugugol namin para kay lola, pati pension niya,” shared Karen Marta, 25.

“Ngayon ko lang nalaman ‘yung Malasakit Center. Sobrang laking tulong ito sa lahat, lalo na sa mga mahirap. Kay Senator Bong Go, maraming salamat sa proyektong ito, sa malasakit ninyo sa amin. Salamat din kay Pangulong Duterte para sa lahat ng naitulong niya sa ating bansa at sa taong bayan,” she added.

In the end, the senator expressed his gratitude to the individuals who worked together to improve the quality of care and health care access for the people of Malabon. They include Presidential Assistant to the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, Office of the President Assistant Secretary Girlie Veloso, Representative Lacson-Noel, Navotas City Rep. John Tiangco and An Waray Party List Rep. Florencio Noel.

He also thanked Mayor Antolin Oreta III, Vice Mayor Bernard Dela Cruz, Chief of Hospital Dr. Marilou Nery, former representative Sandoval II, former vice mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Mr. Willie Revillame who joined the activity.

Bong Go to run for president in 2022 polls

As PDP-PDDS strengthens their alliance

On Saturday, November 13, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go substituted for Grepor Belgica and filed his candidacy as the standard-bearer of the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan for the presidency in the May 2022 elections.

He was personally accompanied by President Rodrigo Duterte in the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros, Manila.

“Wala na pong standard bearer ang ating administration. Sabi ko, I accepted the challenge. Kung kailangan ko pong mag step-up, alang-alang sa (administrasyon) at para lang po maipagpatuloy ‘yung pagbabagong inumpisahan ni Pangulong Duterte (ay gagawin ko),” Go said in an ambush interview after the filing.

“Mahal ko ang aking kapwa Pilipino, gusto ko pong magserbisyo sa kanila at pangako ko sa inyo, walang isang oras, walang minuto na masasayang, magseserbisyo ako sa inyong lahat,” he vowed.

The presidential aspirant explained that he strongly felt the need to step up to ensure the continuity of the reforms and vision of the Duterte Administration. He vowed to serve as a bridge between the government and the Filipino people—particularly the poor, hopeless and helpless—to ensure their needs are provided for, their concerns addressed, and their voices heard.

“Kailangan ko pong (umangat) para sa mga kapartido ko at sa sambayanang Pilipino, lalung-lalo na kay Pangulong Duterte. Kailangan ko pong bumangon para sa kanila. Kailangan kong ipaglaban (to) save the legacy, save the party, save the Filipino people. Ipagpapatuloy ko po ang pagbabago. Tuloy ang malasakit at tuloy ang serbisyo,” vowed Go.

“Ayaw naming masaktan si Tatay Digong dahil ayaw naming masaktan ang mga tatay natin na nagbigay ng buhay sa atin,” he added.

Go’s most recent decision came after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte filed her substitution papers for the vice presidency under Lakas-CMD party.

“Mahal ko si Pangulong Duterte. Ayaw kong mayroong masaktan at sumama ang loob. Kung kailangan kong umiwas, ako po ay umiiwas alang-alang na lang kay Pangulong Duterte at sa sambayanang Pilipino,” Go explained.

The senator also promised to work hard to accomplish the President’s remaining plans for the benefit of the Filipino people after Duterte’s term ends, adding that he will build on the positive changes initiated by the Duterte Administration.

“The Filipino people should eventually be the winner in this election. While we head towards that, I have to consider the stand of my political party, led by President Duterte, which will both help us achieve our objectives,” Go believed.

He specifically reaffirmed his commitment to the President’s crusade against illegal drugs, crime and corruption. He also pledged to push for the continuation of programs and projects that will bring about a more convenient, comfortable and prosperous life for all Filipinos.

“Ang puwede ko pong mai-offer sa kanila, ang puwede ko lang mai-offer sa Pilipino, ‘yung sipag ko po at pagseserbisyo sa aking kapwa Pilipino. ‘Yung totoong malasakit po, ‘yun lang. Ayaw ko pong magmayabang sa inyo, ‘di ko na po kailangan magmayabang sa kapwa ko Pilipino,” continued Go.

“Hintayin niyo na lang po kung resulta lang po. Kung trabaho ang pag-uusapan, bagama’t tatlong taon lang po akong senador, pero iyong nakikita ko pong ginagawa ni Pangulong Duterte na sakripisyo para sa bayan, sino pong magpapatuloy? Iyon po ang ipagpapatuloy ko,” he stressed.

On this note, the senator expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his and the President’s supporters. He expressed confidence in their ability to give the Filipino people the hope and the future that they deserve.

“Maraming salamat po sa mga supporters ko, sa mga nagpagod. Mahal na mahal ko po kayo. Hindi ko po kayo bibiguin. Magseserbisyo po ako sa inyo. Ayaw kong mangako, hindi ako pulitiko na mangangako. Hindi po ako pulitiko na mangangako rito, mangangako doon. Hintayin n’yo na lang po ang resulta ng aming pagtatrabaho ni Pangulong Duterte,” said Go.

In a separate statement, the PDP-Laban leadership announced that Senator Bato dela Rosa withdrew his certificate of candidacy for President under PDP-Laban to give way to Senator Bong Go’s candidacy for president under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan, or PDDS, which supported the candidacy of Senator Go in 2019.

As explained by PDP-Laban, Go filed his candidacy under PDDS as the leadership issue in PDP-Laban has yet to be resolved by the COMELEC.

“Nevertheless, PDP-Laban and PDDS are united in carrying one team for both our national and local candidates,” the statement said.

“The Alliance of PDP-Laban and PDDS is strong and will work tirelessly to push for continuity of President Rodrigo Duterte’s brand of leadership, which includes a tough stance against criminals, grafters, drug lords and terrorists, on the one hand, and a genuine concern for the masses, on the other,” it added.

According to the PDP-Laban statement, the PDP-PDDS Alliance has chosen Senator Go as its candidate for President because the senator carries with him a wealth of experience acquired from years of mentorship under President Duterte and is best suited to ensure continuity of President Duterte’s “Tapang at Malasakit” brand of leadership.

The alliance has also said that Go is endeared by the “Pangkaraniwang Pinoy” because of his own brand of Malasakit, which caters to the poorest of the poor. Go is also expected to continue President Duterte’s “Build Build Build” program—including mass railways projects, airports and seaports, and other infrastructure projects, all ensuring convenience of mobility to the masses.

Lastly, Senator Go is the most hardworking among all the candidates for President and lives up to his motto, “Ang BISYO ay MagSERBISYO”, according to the said statement.

Siargao opens new Sports and Tourism Complex

As Bong Go expresses optimism in the recovery of the country’s tourism sector

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go joined President Rodrigo Duterte and other key officials as the President led the inauguration of the Siargao Island Sports and Tourism Complex and other big-ticket projects in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte on Saturday, November 7. 

Citing Siargao Island’s reputation as one of the most famous tourist destinations in the country, Go said that the opening of the PhP630.2M Siargao Island Sports and Tourism Complex will greatly boost the island’s tourism sector and the country’s economy recovery.

Established in the town of Dapa, the Siargao Island Sports and Tourism Complex can accommodate a total of 1,632 persons with its first-class facilities and amenities. It can also hold various national and international sports and tourism events. 

The 6.3-hectare complex, which was started in 2015, is also equipped with basketball, volleyball and badminton courts, a dormitory for student-athletes, rubberized athletic oval, soccer field, swimming pool, the two-storey, six-classroom Siargao Sports High School, and a convention center.

The senator then echoed the President’s appeal to the local governments in Siargao Island to take care and preserve the natural beauty of the island to ensure that next generations of Filipinos will also get to enjoy it in the future.

Go, as the Chair of Senate Committee on Sports, also mentioned that the said complex also aims to inspire young athletes to hone their athletic talents and skills. 

“Masaya ako sa pagbubukas ng Siargao Sports and Tourism Complex dahil ito po ay isa sa maraming proyekto ng Duterte Administration na makakatulong sa ating ekonomiya at pag-unlad ng bansa,” Go expressed. 

“Ito rin ay magbibigay daan sa ating mga atleta upang maipakita ang kanilang angking galing sa iba’t-ibang uri ng sports,” he added.

As part of his pledge to continue the positive changes initiated by the Duterte Administration, the vice presidential aspirant also cited that the pursuing infrastructure development will boost the economic recovery of the country to eventually provide a comfortable and sustainable life for those in the countryside.

“I am also confident na marami ang mabibigyan ng trabaho dahil sa pagbubukas ng SISTC. Magbubukas ito ng maraming oportunidad para sa mga nasa isla at buong rehiyon,” Go said. 

“Kinakailangan lang po natin na panatiliin ang mga nasimulang magagandang adhikain ni Pangulong Duterte sa mga susunod na administrasyon upang magtuloy-tuloy ang magagandang pagbabago para sa ating mga kababayan kahit saang sulok man sila ng bansa,” he added. 

Aside from the Siargao Island Sports and Tourism Complex, President Duterte also unveiled other projects under the Build, Build, Build program by the Department of Public Works and Highways, including the opening of Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge Three-Point Bridge System which has an overall budget of PhP434 million.

“The construction of additional roads and bridges is vital to our country’s economic development by enhancing the mobility and accessibility of people, goods and services,” Duterte expressed. 

The event was attended by First District Representative Francisco Jose Matugas II, Governor Francisco Matugas, Dapa Mayor Elizabeth Matugas, Surigao City Mayor Ernesto Matugas Jr., Burgos Mayor Emmanuel Arcena, Claver Mayor Georgia Gokiangkee, and Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar. 

Also present were DPWH Undersecretary Eugenio Pipo Jr. representing Secretary Roger Mercado, Assistant Secretary Ador Canlas of the Regional Operations in Mindanao, Regional Director Pol Delos Santos, and Assistant Director Nomer Canlas of Regional Office 13, and Surigao del Norte 1st District engineer Alex Ramos.
