Thousands welcome BBM and Sara in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO — Despite a heavy afternoon rain, thousands of UniTeam supporters stayed to see the frontrunner tandem of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte in a rally at the Pelaez Sports Complex here Tuesday.

Adelaida Acabu, 34, from Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, was among thousands of followers who braved the nearly three-hour rain just to be infront of the stage.

“Alas sais pako sa buntag naa diri. Kadtong nag-ulan naa gihapon ko diri wa ko nihawa aron dili ko mapulihan ug aron makita gyud nako sila sa stage,” Acuba, who was still soaking wet at around 7 p.m., said.

“Sila (BBM-Sara) akong gusto suportahan ug nanghinaot ko sa ilang kadaugan,” she added.

Another staunch supporter who bravely waited for the candidates under the UniTeam ticket was Clifford Sabejon, who hails from Tagaloan, Misamis Oriental.

“Ganina mga 1 p.m. ko naabot diri sa sports complex. Bisan nag-ulan naghulat mi makita ang mga kandidato sa UniTeam,” Sabejon, a construction foreman, said.

Through out the rally, Sabejon was seen waving his wet huge Philippine flag.

“Wala nako niuli ug balay pag-ulan. Bahala og mabasa. Nagpadayon ko diri kay nakita man nako nga insakto ang pagdala sa Davao City ug tinuoray ang ilang tumong,” he added.

In her speech, Sara recalled that they received an overwhelming support from the people of Cagayan de Oro in 2016 when they campaigned for then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s presidential bid.

“Niadtong 2016, nangampanya mi para kay President Duterte, nag-Byaheng Do30 mi nagsakay mi ug bus. Diri mi nakakita sa Cagayan de Oro og dako kaayo nga pagwelcome sa mga tao sa highway,” Sara said.

Duterte, who is now in the final two weeks of her campaign, thanked thousands of people for the sustained love and support their family receives through the years.

“Dili mahurot ug wala mi sakto nga words sa pagpasalamat namo sa kanunay ug hugot ninyo nga suporta sa pamilyang Duterte. Thank you very much,” said Duterte. HNP Media

OFWs throw support to Piñol's candidacy

OFWs throw support to Piñol’s candidacy

DAVAO CITY – Senatorial aspirant Emmanuel Piñol went on to his social media account to thank the outpouring of support of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who campaigned for him in other countries.

“OFWs in Hong Kong are tireless and continuous in their campaign for Number 52,” he said in a public post on Monday (April 18).

He also said that the OFWs used their own money to provide campaign materials such as tarpaulins and standees which they set up along the route to the Philippine Consulate where Hongkong OFWs queue to cast their votes.

“Thank you so much Hongkong OFWs. I am deeply touched and inspired by what you are doing,” Piñol said.

He cited that such support which is done by ordinary people should definitely be reciprocated with loyal service.

Meanwhile, Alumani Ike, an OFW from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea also expressed support for Piñol and encouraged fellow Filipinos to support him as well.

Benito Claudio, one of his supporters also said that Piñol is the only national candidate supported all over the world by ordinary citizens with their own money and services.

“This fact speaks for itself. Agriculture and Fisheries in our country have been marginalized for the longest time with mediocre government policies and support,” he said.

Apart from the OFWs, various groups and ordinary citizens also supported his candidacy by providing campaign materials and t-shirts.

“I may not be able to shake your hands and thank all of you but I assure to repay you with a loyal and loving service to the people and our country,” Piñol vowed.

PRRD’s endorsement comes from the heart-Piñol

PRRD’s endorsement comes from the heart-Piñol

DAVAO CITY – Senatorial aspirant Emmanuel Piñol emphasized to his critics who keep on asking about the endorsement made by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte to his candidacy in the coming May 2022 polls that he was indeed “endorsed from the heart.”

“Many are asking if I was endorsed by President Rody Duterte. My answer – If the endorsement was by raising a hand, it didn’t happen and I didn’t ask either. I have always believed that the endorsement is his to give, not mine to ask,” he clarified in a Facebook post on Saturday (April 23).

In a video clip posted on his official social media account, it can be seen that Duterte relates his impression to Piñol’s work ethic when he was then the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.

“I knew Manny, he is a country boy and he works very well. I adored the level of energy that he purses into his work and he is a very industrious worker,” Duterte said in the clip.

Piñol then explained that he did not ask for it and the words that flowed from Duterte’s heart is not mixed with politics.

“I have kept and treasured this 24-second video clip of the president praising me for my dedication and my work ethic. It is more than an endorsement already,” he added.

The former Agriculture Secretary said that the words of praise from Duterte will be his badge of honor as a public servant and will be a source of pride for his family.

Friendship beyond politics

Piñol narrated that he knew the president for 11 years which started on Sept. 1, 2003, when then-Mayor Rody visited his province as a guest speaker during the Foundation Day of North Cotabato.

“The friendship was strengthened when he stood as the only Ninong of my youngest child, Bernhart Immanuel, and wedding Godfather of my eldest child, Dr. Ma. Krista. I consider him a dear friend until today, a friendship which will last beyond his Presidency,” he said.

Piñol bared that people around him tried to strain his friendship with the president by pointing out that even as Secretary of Agriculture, he did not always agree with every program that he approved, most specifically the Rice Tariffication Law.

“They were uncomfortable with me because I was noisy and they called me ‘mahangin’ for saying that the Philippines could be rice sufficient and even food sufficient.
I don’t know where these people, who benefited from his presidency now, would be after he steps down from office,” he added.

Piñol also assured that him being the ‘talkative’ Secretary of Agriculture, will always remain Duterte’s friend.

“Mr. President, my dear Pare Rody, thank you for giving me the opportunity of serving our people and for plucking me out of obscurity to become a champion of Food Security and Environmental Protection whose views are listened to by other leaders today,” he added.

Piñol further said, “I know you were not always comfortable with me because of my critical views and frankness. Remember this, my friend, only real and faithful friends would tell you the inconvenient truth.”
