Davao City 1st District Representative and House Deputy Speaker Paolo Z. Duterte issued a short statement regarding the supposed mass resignation of his congressional staff at the House of Representatives.
The presidential son’s statement came on the heels of the statement of ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Yap who admitted that he was the one who asked for the resignation of Rep. Duterte’s chief of staff Atty. Sherwin Castañeda and six of his staff.
Rep. Yap said he asked for Castañeda’s resignation as he was also the one who recommended him to serve as Duterte’s chief of staff. Yap said he received numerous complaints of mismanagement under Castañeda.
In his statement, Rep. Duterte said that since Rep. Yap has already issued a statement, the reason behind is better answered by Castañeda who he parted ways with amicably.
“For the details on why they resigned I think it would be best if Atty. Castañeda should answer that question because for me tapos na ang lahat and we parted ways na maayos,” the young Duterte said.
Rep. Duterte said the resignation letters of Castañeda and his staff of six were submitted to the Office of Rep. Eric Yap on August 10. And he intended it to be discreet so as to protect Castañeda and his staff.
Rep. Duterte said he was surprised that a website came out with the story and did not even bother to ask his side of the story.
At the moment, Rep. Duterte said he now plans to bring in some of his trusted staff from his Davao District-Office to the HoR to help run the office.
“I’m almost done filling up the vacant positions with the help of congressman Yap’s staff. Hoping for a smooth transition and a more effective office for the constituents of the 1st dist of Davao City,” ended Rep. Duterte.
